Friedrichs Aquaintances

Even today, the myth of Friedrich as a loner is still widespread. However, the overall picture reveals a whole network of acquaintances from the worlds of art, literature, publishing, science and music, as well as collectors, financiers and, of course, family members with whom he was in constant dialogue. Some of his contemporaries influenced his work even though he never met them, while he maintained close friendships with others. This map provides an overview of the social contacts that accompanied him in his life and work and sometimes also on his travels.
